Delhi: AAP releases manifesto for state elections
Free wi-fi across the state, passing the Jan Lokpal Bill, and increased security for women were among the promises made by the Aam Aadmi Party in its manifesto for the Delhi elections released on Saturday. However, the Bharatiya Janata Party has criticised the manifesto, calling the promises "rehashed" and "borrowed" ideas that are not worthy of consideration. AAP said that the manifesto is its "Geeta, Bible, Quran’" that it will implement point-by-point if voted to power.

Bengal: Former union minister Matang Sinh arrested in connection with Saradha scam
Former union minister and Congress leader Matang Sinh has been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation in connection with the Saradha scam. Sinh has been charged with a criminal conspiracy, cheating and misappropriation of funds related to Saradha Realty. Sinh has allegedly named many bureaucrats he influenced in return for benefirts like favourable posting. On January 17, the CBI had arrested Saradha Reality director Shib Narayan Das.

Gujarat: MIG 21 crash crashes in Jamnagar, pilot safe
A MIG-21 fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force crashed near the Bed village in Jamnagar while on a routine mission on Saturday. The pilot of the jet managed to eject safely before the crash and sustained only minor injuries. This is the second instance of MIG being involved in a mishap this week. On Tuesday, a MIG-27 fighter aircraft had crashed about 8 kms from Barmer city in Rajasthan, injuring a motorcyclist.

Telangana: Government faces opposition fury for shifting secretariat due to ‘vastu defect’
The Telangana government on Saturday announced that a new state secretariat building will be constructed, abandoning the present building because of a "vastu defect". "The existing secretariat does not have a good vastu and therefore governments are not stable," chief minister Chandrasekhar Rao said. "They are facing a whole set of problems." The new building will cost Rs 150 crore. The opposition came down heavily on the government’s decision, with CPI leader K Narayana comparing Rao with Mohammad bin Tuglaq.

Andhra Pradesh: Hyderabad girl drops plan to join ISIS, returns from Turkey
The police on Saturday said that a 19-year-old hailing from Hyderabad residing in Qatar had returned to her parents after changing her mind on joining ISIS. According to Hyderabad Police Commissioner M Mahender Reddy, the girl was influenced by a lady residing in her apartment in Qatar. "The incident happened around two months ago," he said.
